Half-Time Report: Fernando Forestieri gives Sheffield Wednesday half-time lead

A first-half finish from Fernando Forestieri hands Sheffield Wednesday a 1-0 lead over visiting Hull City at half time in their Championship clash at Hillsborough.

Fernando Forestieri's first-half strike has given Sheffield Wednesday a 1-0 half-time lead over visitors Hull City in the Championship this afternoon.

Wednesday started the game brightly and they had shouts for a penalty turned away when Kieran Lee went down under pressure from Michael Dawson, but the referee waved play on.

Mohamed Diame sought to hit back for the visitors midway through the half, before being denied by a standout block from Sam Hutchinson at the back.

It was the hosts who were able to break the deadlock, however, when Forestieri broke free inside the area to turn home a loose ball and put his side 1-0 ahead after 28 minutes.

Hull were almost back in the contest just minutes later when Jake Livermore lashed his free kick towards goal, only for Keiren Westwood to make a strong save.

Lucas Joao might have given Wednesday a two-goal advantage just before the break, but Allan McGregor was equal to his effort on the edge of the City box.
