Mohamed Diame has revealed that he regrets staying at West Ham United for as long as he did before joining Hull City on transfer deadline day.
The 27-year-old claims that he was often mistreated by Sam Allardyce during his stay at Upton Park, and is relishing the opportunity to play regularly in central midfield with the Tigers.
"At West Ham I was shunted around all the different positions," Diame revealed to members of the media. "I remember one time I had to play as a striker.
"That was not good for my career. I wanted to play for a club that is high in the Premier League table.
"At least with Hull I will be certain of playing in my favoured role. I should have left West Ham a long time ago, as with them I wasn't permitted to play in central midfield."
Diame is likely to make his debut for Hull against the Hammers on September 15.
