Hull City have defeated 10-man Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League.
The Black Cats were on the back foot right from the start as they were reduced to 10 man after just four minutes.
Wes Brown was shown a straight red card for bringing down Shane Long on the edge of the Sunderland penalty area with a late sliding tackle.

That gave visiting Hull the initiative, and they duly capitalised on their numerical advantage on 17 minutes.
The ball fell to Jake Livermore outside the box following a corner, and he played it back into the area for Long to head home from close range.
Nikica Jelavic was unlucky not to open his account for Hull when Vito Mannone tipped his close-range header onto the post, before Long rattled the frame of the Sunderland goal from almost 30 yards.
Croatian striker Jelavic eventually found the target for the first time for the Tigers, and it came just after the hour mark when he headed in from close range.

That goal proved enough for Hull to pick up maximum points and move up to 10th in the league table, while Sunderland are now a place above the relegation zone.
