Robert Snodgrass denies Burnley victory with late leveller

Hull City claim a 1-1 draw away at Burnley thanks to Robert Snodgrass's free kick in the fifth minute of added time.

Robert Snodgrass has continued his impressive start to the season by helping Hull City to a 1-1 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Scotland international curled home a free kick from 20 yards in the fifth minute of added time to make it seven goals in six games for club and country.

There was an early chance for Abel Hernandez in Lancashire, as he wriggled away from Ben Mee and forced Tom Heaton into making a smart stop to push the ball aside.

Hull were the side on top in the early stages but openings were kept to a minimum in a match lacking any real entertainment, until a chance from nothing saw David Meyler strike the foot of the post on the brink of half time.

Adama Diomande saw a big chance come and go early in the second half, while Tom Huddlestone also blasted high and wide from a promising position, and that looked to prove costly when Burnley grew into the game and grabbed a goal.

Summer signing Steven Defour was the man to score it, taking the ball past Sam Clucas and blasting beyond the reach of Eldin Jakupovic between the sticks to put the Clarets on course for an 11th win in 13 meetings against their opponents.

City did not give up, though, and after seeing a penalty appeal turned down when Ryan Mason appeared to be brought down by Heaton, a free kick conceded just outside the area proved to cost Burnley dearly as Snodgrass picked his spot to earn another point on the road for the Tigers.

Hull are now sixth in the Premier League table, while Burnley are down in 15th place with four points from their first four games.
