Walter Samuel returns to Inter Milan as coach

Former Inter Milan defender Walter Samuel has returned to San Siro in a coaching capacity.

The 38-year-old represented Inter between 2005 and 2014, making more than 230 appearances for the Italian outfit.

Samuel left the Serie A giants for Basel in 2014, but has now returned to the club as a first-team coach after calling time on his playing career at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

"A silent warrior, a winner who became a legend and will always be remembered by #Inter fans. Now he's back! Welcome home Walter #Samuel!" Inter Milan tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.

Inter appointed former Lazio manager Stefano Poli as their new head coach on November 8.
