Inter Milan director Marco Branca has hinted that the club were not in a position to keep Samuel Eto'o and Thiago Motta.
Eto'o joined Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer, while Motta joined Paris Saint-Germain in January.
Branca, however, has claimed that the club would have ideally liked to keep the pair at the San Siro.
"From a technical point of view, not only myself, but also the president and everyone at Inter would have made different choices. However, if we made the decisions that we did, then it's because we couldn't do any differently," Branca told Sky Sport Italia.
Inter are eighth in Serie A.
