Bundesliga side Union Berlin have signed German left-back Robin Gosens from Inter Milan on a permanent deal.
The 29-year-old returns to his homeland after just two year at San Siro, during which he scored five goals and provided one assist in 58 appearances for Simone Inzaghi's side.
Gosens - who had previously shone as a wing-back for Atalanta BC - won two Coppa Italias and the Supercoppa Italiana with Inter and ended the 2022-23 season with four goals to his name from 49 matches.
However, the versatile defender started just 11 Serie A games for the Nerazzurri and only featured from the first whistle three times during their run to the Champions League final, where he came off the bench for the last 14 minutes.
With Inter signing Carlos Augusto from Monza earlier on Tuesday, Gosens was given the green light to leave and has joined Union Berlin on a five-year deal until the summer of 2028.
"I have always said that it is my dream to play in Germany and the Bundesliga one day. The last few years at Union have been impressive, and people abroad have noticed that. I felt a lot of appreciation and trust in the talks with the club's officials, so the decision wasn't difficult for me," Gosens told the official Union Berlin website.
The Germany international's arrival provides Urs Fischer's side with more invaluable European experience ahead of their Champions League group-stage campaign, having achieved a fourth-placed finish in the 2022-23 Bundesliga season.
