Half-Time Report: Kevin Bru volley gives Ipswich Town lead at Brentford

Kevin Bru's volley on the stroke of half time gives Ipswich Town a 1-0 lead away at Brentford.

A late Kevin Bru volley has given Ipswich Town a 1-0 half-time lead at Griffin Park.

The game's first chance fell to Ipswich striker Freddie Sears, who ran beyond the Brentford defence to shoot, but his effort was saved by David Button.

Brentford then missed a series of opportunities through Konstantin Kerschbaumer and Philipp Hofmann, before Akaki Gogia had a shot saved by Bartosz Bialkowski.

The Bees almost took the lead on 25 minutes after Gogia won a free kick, but Alan Judge's attempt went narrowly wide.

As both teams grew into the game Bru had a shot saved by Button, before Brentford countered quickly, only for Jota to be denied by Bialkowski.

A Sears breakaway created another opportunity for the visitors, as his cross found Ryan Fraser who headed straight at the Brentford keeper.

Sears tested Button with a long-range strike for the visitors, before the Tractor Boys took the lead on 45 minutes through a Bru volley.
