A long range strike from Ipswich Town midfielder Ryan Stevenson ensures that Paul Jewell's side lead Doncaster Rovers 2-1 at half time.

Goals from Tommy Smith and Ryan Stevenson have given Ipswich Town a 2-1 half-time lead against Doncaster Rovers.

The first chance of the game fell to Ipswich's Lee Martin but his shot was saved well by Gary Woods in the Doncaster goal.

Ipswich did make the breakthrough with their next chance as Tommy Smith lost his marker to head in Martin's corner in the tenth minute.

James Hayter had Doncaster's first real chance of the game but his shot from inside the penalty area comfotably cleared the crossbar.

The away side doubled their lead in the 29th minute as Ryan Stevenson collected the ball before firing his long range strike past a helpless Woods.

Doncaster managed to pull a goal back five minutes later though as Fabien Robert converted Simon Gillett's teasing cross at the near post.

Gillett could have levelled the game just moments before the interval but Arran Lee-Barret's save ensured the visitors were in front at half time.
