Preview: Ipswich Town vs. Sheffield Wednesday

Sports Mole previews the Championship encounter at Portman Road between Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday.

Ipswich Town play host to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night looking to record their first victory in four matches.

The Tractor Boys have been a constant fixture in the upper echelons of the Championship standings over the past three months, but just one point in three games has seen them fall to fifth place.

Their recent record of seven points from six games will be cause for concern for manager Mick McCarthy, and after he witnessed his team lose 2-0 at Rotherham United at the weekend, he will consider alterations for the visit of the Owls.

Striker Freddie Sears is pushing for his first start for the club after his January move from Colchester United, while winger Stephen Hunt could return to the starting lineup after being an unused substitute at the New York Stadium.

Sheffield Wednesday make the trip to Portman Road in equally poor form after failing to register a victory in the league since January 10.

Just two points from four games have seen Stuart Gray's men slip 11 points behind the playoff places and another slip-up on Tuesday could leave them with too much work to do in the final 16 games of the campaign.

Gray has seen his side struggle for goals in recent weeks, with no goal being netted in open play during their winless streak.

Midfielder Jose Semedo could be recalled to the starting lineup after coming on against Cardiff City at the weekend, while striker Sergiu Bus may make his first start since signing from CSKA Sofia.

On-loan Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker could return to the squad after being left out on Saturday.
