Stephen Hunt wants longer Ipswich Town stay

Ipswich Town winger Stephen Hunt says that he wants to extend his deal at the club past the end of the season.

Stephen Hunt has expressed his desire to stay at Ipswich Town past the end of the season.

After initially joining Town on a 'pay as you play' deal in November, Irishman Hunt signed a six-month contract until the end of the season in December.

He has since made 10 appearances in the Championship for the Blues and is now hoping to sign a longer contract with the club.

"That's the aim for me and if that happens, then I will get the family over here and settle in Suffolk," he told the club website.

"The short-term contract I first signed was really a case of 'what if' and it allowed the gaffer (Mick McCarthy) to have a look at me, and me to have a look at Ipswich and see if things could go further.

"There weren't any politics involved or anything like that and knowing him and [assistant manager Terry Connor] from Wolves like I did, I knew he would be totally honest and straight down the line with me."

With 14 games of the season left, Ipswich are 10th in the table, five points shy of the playoffs.
