Ipswich Town approach Jack Collison

Former West Ham midfielder Jack Collison is offered a short-term contract by Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has offered former West Ham United midfielder Jack Collison a short-term contract.

Collison, 25, had been training with Birmingham City as well as Ipswich Town, and is now thought to be considering his options.

"I offered him exactly the same as Darren Ambrose, to January, and I've told him that offer still stands," McCarthy told the East Anglian Daily Times.

"Things all seem sweet now but we get to November and suddenly we've got a flu epidemic and we've people with injuries and suspensions so another body of that quality would be nice."

Collinson, who spent seven years at Upton Park before being released in the summer, has been capped 17 times by Wales.
