Ipswich Town midfielder Luke Hyam has joined Rotherham United on an emergency loan deal until the New Year.
The 24-year-old had been closing in on a switch to the Millers after being told that he could temporarily leave Portman Road to regain fitness.
Hyam, who is expected to provide injury cover at Championship strugglers Rotherham, linked up with his new teammates on Thursday morning and is now in contention to feature against Bristol City at the weekend.
"I spoke to my agent and the Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy and they told me that Rotherham were interested in taking me on loan," the one-club man told United's official website.
"They asked me what I thought and I was keen to come straight away. I always look forward to a challenge. I've never moved previously. I've always played at Ipswich all my career but I just need to play some games now so this is a great opportunity."
Hyam has not played for Ipswich since last January due to a troublesome knee injury that required him to undergo surgery during the summer.
