Stockdale in Ipswich loan move

David Stockdale has agreed a one-year loan deal with Ipswich Town after signing a four-year contract extension at Fulham.

The 25-year-old, who has had previous loan spells at Rotherham United, Leicester City and Plymouth Argyle, said that he was impressed with manager Paul Jewell's vision for the Portman Road club.

"I had a great talk with the gaffer here and Ipswich is a big club so I was eager to come here," he explained.

"The manager told me about the quality of the signings he's made and where they're heading. Now I'm just looking forward to getting going and playing my part in what I hope will be a successful season for Ipswich."

Meanwhile, the Anglian outfit have signed 20-year-old Arsenal striker Jay-Emmanuel Thomas for a reported £1.1m fee.
