Sven-Goran Eriksson has reportedly agreed a deal to become the new head coach of Iraq.
Eriksson, who managed England between 2001 and 2006, has been without a position since leaving Chinese outfit Shenzhen FC in June 2017.
According to Sky Sports News, the 70-year-old held positive talks with Iraq FA officials last week, and he is now on the verge of taking up the managerial role with a team that currently sits 89th in FIFA's world rankings.
Eriksson has coached the likes of Lazio, Manchester City, Mexico, Ivory Coast and Leicester City during a well-travelled career, and has spent the last five years in China.
Iraq, who failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, will begin their Asian Cup group-stage campaign against Vietnam on January 8.
