Italy boss Antonio Conte believes that his side's 2-0 victory over the Netherlands in Thursday evening's friendly will help them grow in confidence.
First-half goals from Ciro Immobile and Daniele De Rossi saw off the Dutch, and the Azzurri coach was pleased with the way his players bounced back from a disappointing World Cup campaign.
"Aside from the result, I was interested to see the response from the lads and it was certainly positive in terms of effort, aggression and the footballing ideas we want to bring forward," he told Rai Sport.
"Games like this give us confidence, enthusiasm and even more credibility going forward with this project.
"We are on the right track. We had six pretty intense training sessions on a tactical level and I am happy, as the lads worked hard and were eager to get stuck in."
Italy's next fixture is their Euro 2016 qualifier away to Norway next Tuesday.
