Ronaldo: 'Mario Balotelli can make his mark at World Cup'

Brazil legend Ronaldo believes that Mario Balotelli can be one of the standout stars at next summer's World Cup if he curbs his controversial ways.

Brazil legend Ronaldo believes that Mario Balotelli can be one of the stars of next summer's World Cup "if he behaves himself".

Ronaldo, who won the tournament with the Selecao in 1994 and 2002, thinks that Italy will pose a genuine threat in his homeland, and reckons that the AC Milan striker can leave his mark on the competition if he curbs his controversial ways.

"Balotelli is a great champion and can make the difference at the World Cup, if he behaves himself," Ronaldo told reporters.

"Italy are traditionally a team to be feared in these tournaments.

"Even when they don't necessarily play that well, they still often get to the semi-final or the final."

The draw for the World Cup is made on Friday.
