Salvatore Sirigu unsure if he will keep his place for Italy

Italy goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu admits that he is not sure if he will keep his place in the team for the Azzurri's second World Cup game against Costa Rica on Friday.

Italy goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu has admitted that he is not sure if he will keep his place in the team for the Azzurri's second World Cup game against Costa Rica on Friday.

Sirigu, who plays his club football for French champions Paris Saint-Germain, stepped in when number one Gianluigi Buffon was forced out of Saturday's match against England with an ankle injury.

Speaking ahead of Friday's game in Recife, Sirigu told a press conference: "I don't know if I will play. I am training as always. We all hope that Buffon will recover from his injury soon."

The Italian camp said earlier today that they were also unsure on Buffon's status for the clash against Costa Rica, who are top of the group on goal difference after beating Uruguay.
