Juventus earned a 1-0 victory over Monaco in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final in Turin this evening.

Arturo Vidal scored the winning goal from the penalty spot, after Ricardo Carvalho had brought down Alvaro Morata inside the box.

The Bianconeri then saw out the rest of the match to ensure that they will head into the return meeting at the Stade Louis II with a narrow lead.

JUVENTUS:

Goal

Gianluigi Buffon: Solid display as ever from the Juventus captain. Made a vital save to deny Carrasco in the first 10 minutes, before pushing a shot wide from Silva after the break. (7/10)

Defence

Stephan Lichtsteiner: Reliable showing from the Swiss international. Was rarely beaten down his side of the pitch and always looked to help his team out going forward. (7/10)

Giorgio Chiellini: The Italian was as dominant as ever and won every battle. In the first half, he made a vital challenge on Martial inside the box and he went on to make a number of other important tackles. (8/10)

Leonardo Bonucci: Another strong display at the back from a Juventus defender. Formed a solid partnership with Chiellini and restricted the opposition to mainly long-range shots. (7/10)

Patrice Evra: Always looked to get forward whenever he had the chance, but was more reserved after the break and produced a reliable display. (7/10)

Midfield

Andrea Pirlo: Struggled to find his feet after so long out injured, but he gradually came into the game. It was his wonderful pass that led to the penalty and he helped Juventus to control the midfield. (7/10)

Arturo Vidal: Tireless display from the Chilean, who drifted all over the pitch and worked hard for his team throughout the evening. He also scored the vital winning goal with a brilliant penalty. (8/10)

Claudio Marchisio: Not the best display that the Italian international will ever produce, but he put in plenty of effort and was another reason why Juventus controlled the midfield. (7/10)

Attack

Roberto Pereyra: Workmanlike showing from the Argentine, who was quick to close down the opposition all evening. (7/10)

Alvaro Morata: Quiet night from the Spaniard, who struggled against Monaco's well-organised defence. He did play a crucial part in the winning goal, as he was brought down inside the box by Carvalho to win the penalty. (6/10)

Carlos Tevez: Struggled to have his usual impact on the match. He wasted a good chance in the first half by volleying straight at the keeper from close range and he was generally left a frustrated figure. (6/10)

Substitutes

Andrea Barzagl: Brought on for Pirlo and came into the defence to help Juventus see out the match. (7/10)

Alessandro Matri: Did not see much of the ball after his late introduction. (6/10)

Stefano Sturaro: Came on far too late to make any impact. (6/10)

Goal

Danijel Subasic: Could have done little about the penalty from Vidal, but was generally solid in goal and made some important saves. (7/10)

Defence

Andrea Raggi: Forced back for long spells in the game, but did an effective job of stopping the home side's attacks down his side of the pitch. (7/10)

Ricardo Carvalho: Had a good night and helped to frustrate Juventus for long spells, but it was his clumsy tackle that gave away the game-changing penalty. (6/10)

Aymen Abdennour: Solid performance from the defender, who kept Morata quiet and produced a number of well-timed tackles. (7/10)

Layvin Kurzawa: The Frenchman got forward at every opportunity and he had two decent attempts on goal in the first half. He was unable to push on as much after the break, but he still performed well. (6/10)

Midfield

Fabinho: Slotted into the midfield in place of the injured Toulalan and provided good protection for the back four. (7/10)

Geoffrey Kondogbia: Reliable in the centre of the midfield, but did not see enough of the ball to really make a decisive impact. (6/10)

Joao Moutinho: Faded in and out of the game, but when he was in possession he used the ball wisely and he also helped to set up a few attacks. (6/10)

Attack

Yannick Ferreira Carrasco: Electric performance from the Belgian who caused Juventus a number of early problems. He forced two saves from Buffon, but he really should have scored from inside the box in the opening minutes. (7/10)

Nabil Dirar: Was dangerous going forward in the first half, but an injury shortly after the break saw him replaced by Silva. (6/10)

Anthony Martial: Showed some positive moments as he led the Monaco attack, but did not receive enough support to truly trouble the defence. (6/10)

Substitutes

Bernardo Silva: Came on for the injured Dirar early in the second half and had a great chance to score when his near-post effort was saved by Buffon. (7/10)

Dimitar Berbatov: Another substitute that almost made an immediate impact, as within a couple of minutes of his arrival, he headed a corner narrowly over the bar. (6/10)

Matheus Carvalho: Saw little of the ball after his late introduction to the game. (6/10)
