Juventus win to go six points clear at top of Serie A

Juventus record their seventh straight Serie A victory by beating Bologna 2-0 at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara to move six points clear of Roma at the top of the table.

Serie A leaders Juventus beat Bologna 2-0 at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara tonight to move six points clear of Roma at the top of the table.

In-form midfielder Arturo Vidal opened the scoring, and Giorgio Chiellini later secured the Old Lady their seventh consecutive league win with a stoppage-time second.

It took Chilean international Vidal just 13 minutes to add to the hat-trick that he scored against FC Copenhagen last week, as he pounced on the rebound of Claudio Marchisio's driven shot.

Fabio Quagliarella, who had earlier warmed up his shooting boots with a long-range effort, came close to doubling Juve's lead with a deflected strike that looped just wide of the near post.

The resulting corner on 18 minutes yielded another chance for the visitors as the ball fell to defender Angelo Ogbonna, who miscued his shot on the turn off target from a promising position.

Bologna emerged from the early barrage against them only one down, and then pinned Juve back with some pressure of their own, but Gianluigi Buffon saved well from Alessandro Diamanti's free kick.

Antonio Conte's side missed a hat-trick of chances just prior to the interval, with Vidal among those were wasteful, but it proved not to be costly as they dominated the second period from start to finish.

Quagliarella, Marchisio sent shots wide, while Fernando Llorente was denied by Gianluca Curci's fine save before substitute Kwadwo Asamoah had a goal ruled out one minute after his introduction.

Juve did find the net again, though, and this time it counted as Chiellini connected with a corner from Carlos Tevez to head home his second goal of the season and make sure of the three points.
