Fernando Llorente, Carlos Tevez send Juventus top

Juventus strikers Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente both score as the Old Lady go top with a 2-0 win at Livorno.

Juventus have come through a tricky trip to Livorno with flying colours, with goals from strike duo Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez enough to send the Old Lady top for at least 24 hours.

The Bianconeri were forced to use Arturo Vidal in a new centre-back role but still made a positive start, with Andrea Pirlo quickly dictating play from midfield.

Llorente had their first half-chance of the afternoon, meeting Simone Padoin's cross with a header that trickled well wide of the target.

Paul Pogba and Kwadwo Asamoah tested Livorno goalkeeper Francesco Bardi soon after, while the pace of Innocent Emeghara offered the hosts a threat on the counter at the other end.

Livorno stayed disciplined and went into the break with parity still intact, forcing Conte to come up with a different plan to break the deadlock.

Midway through the second half a stubborn home resistance was broken by Llorente, with the Spanish striker meeting Pogba's cross with an assured volley sent inside the near post.

Tevez got in on the act soon after following a move involving Pogba and Llorente, wriggling free in a packed penalty to make the game safe with a low strike nestled in the bottom corner.

Livorno were unable to offer a late response and turned against their own woodwork in the closing stages, with Juve able to comfortably see out their fifth successive clean sheet.
