In an open first half, Marco Rossi drew the visitors level on the half-hour when he headed in Alexander Merkel's cross.
Antonio Conte's side regained the lead on the hour when Matri's low drive from the edge of the area found the net.
The hosts dominated much of the second half, but Genoa earned themselves a point with five minutes to play when Andrea Caracciolo got on the end of Juraj Kucka's knock down to flick home.
The away side continued to push for a winner in the final minutes, but the Juventus defence held on for the draw.
