Kilmarnock boss Allan Johnston has revealed that he is confident of agreeing a long-term contract with Kris Boyd this summer.
The 29-year-old spent a short period with the Scottish outfit last season, but he is currently a free agent, with a number of English clubs believed to be monitoring proceedings.
"Hopefully. We've been trying to do that for a wee while. I think Boydy's keen to stay as well. And somebody like that can only improve us," he told the club's official website.
"He's a top-quality player. He's played at the highest level and scored goals at the highest level. There are not many players who can do that."
Kilmarnock open their league campaign against Aberdeen on Saturday.
