Half-Time Report: Lazio leading Fiorentina

Lazio take a 1-0 lead into the halfway stage of their Serie A clash with Fiorentina this evening.

Lazio have taken a 1-0 lead into the halfway stage of their Serie A encounter with Fiorentina this evening.

The visitors made a perfect start to the match when they took the lead after just five minutes, Lorik Cana firing an effort past the keeper following a corner.

Antonio Candreva almost doubled his side's lead just a minute later too as he drilled a low strike towards the bottom corner that drew a fine stop from the keeper.

Fiorentina's first real chance came in the 25th minute of the match as Alessandro Matri nodded towards goal from close range, but he was denied by a fine block.

The hosts threatened again in the closing stages of the half, Gonzalo Rodriguez planting a header narrowly wide with just six minutes of the opening period remaining.

Lazio came within inches of doubling their lead when Abdoulay Konko collected the ball inside the area but could only hit the woodwork from close range.
