Lazio midfielder Hernanes has declared that his side must use the anger of their Europa League defeat to Fenerbahce in Turkey to their advantage in tomorrow night's Rome derby.
Vladimir Petkovic's side lost 2-0 on Thursday in the quarter-final first leg under a cloud of controversy which included penalty and red card decisions that went the Turkish side's way.
Hernanes thinks that Lazio can use their bitter feeling over that result as fuel to drive them to victory over their fierce local rivals Roma in Serie A on Monday.
"We are really angry about the way the game went against Fenerbahce," Football Italia quotes him as saying. "Now we've got to focus solely on Roma and maybe use that rage in our favour.
"This game is too important for us and we have to face it with our heads held high, fully believing in our capabilities. If we do that, I am sure we've got a great chance of victory.
"This is the best opportunity for us to cancel out the Istanbul defeat and get kick-started again so we can then prepare for the second leg."
Lazio are chasing a fourth successive win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday, which would see them move up at least one place to fifth in Serie A.
