Lazio midfielder Hernanes has thanked Vladimir Petkovic for changing his role in the side as the season has progressed.
Hernanes has primarily played as an advanced playmaker since moving to Serie A in 2010, earning plaudits for his ability to provide effective service for Miroslav Klose.
During the current campaign the Brazilian international has occupied a deeper role, and Hernanes has revealed that he thinks he has found his preferred position.
He told the Lazio Style Channel: "I came here two years ago and played in a role I wasn't accustomed to, then this summer I spoke to Petkovic and told him I'd prefer to be in a deeper position rather than on the final third.
"This is my role, there is no need to perform other experiments. I am convinced that I don't want to keep changing position on the pitch, as I know what is most suited to my characteristics. A few months ago I said my career was starting all over again and I was right.
"I love the Lazio fans and the people of this city, while it's great to have a big meal at the restaurant and I can't resist admiring the Colosseum."
The 27-year-old has scored eight times in Serie A for the Rome giants this season.
