Lazio's Champions League hopes have been dented after they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Siena this evening.
The home side started brightly, putting pressure on Siena straight from kickoff. Tommaso Rocchi came close after just five minutes, but his effort flew narrowly wide the post.
However, despite Lazio's good start, it was Siena who took the lead when Andrea Rossi's cross was headed in by Mattia Destro.
The hosts equalised shortly after the hour mark when Antonio Candreva was brought down in the penalty area. Up stepped Cristian Ledesma to fire the spot kick past Gianluca Pegolo.
Lazio pushed on in search of a goal that would keep them in the hunt for a top three spot, but Siena managed to hold out for the draw.
The result means that Lazio have missed the chance to go level on points with third-placed Napoli, but they do jump into the top five at Inter Milan's expense.
