Lazio ease to win over Sampdoria

Lazio remain third in Serie A following a comfortable 3-0 win over Sampdoria.

Lazio have eased to a 3-0 win over Sampdoria in Serie A this evening, extending their unbeaten run to five matches in the league.

Sampdoria had the majority of the early possession, but failed to threaten their opponents, allowing the home side to take control of the match.

Senad Lulic tried to give Lazio an opening goal less than 10 minutes in, but his cross failed to find its way into the box, while Emiliano Viviano cleared from a Stefan Radu cross a few moments later.

Lazio's first real chance came with just over 20 minutes gone when Lucas Biglia tried to blast the ball in from a free kick, but Viviano did just enough to put the ball behind.

Stefan de Vrij maintained the home side's relentless attack, tapping the ball just wide from a rebound inside the six-yard box.

The hosts eventually opened the scoring when a high ball forward fell for Marco Parolo, who struck the ball on the volley to bury it in the top corner.

Lazio doubled their lead just three minutes later when Felipe Anderson won the ball 25 yards out and got the better of the keeper with a strike to the bottom corner.

The hosts showed no signs of letting up after the break, and Lulis and Filip Djordjevic both had chances scuppered less than five minutes after the restart.

Anderson tried to add his second of the evening with an individual break, but Angelo Palombo was on hand to deflect it behind for the visitors.

Any hopes of a Sampdoria comeback were ended with just over 20 minutes to play when Filip Djordjevic fired home a third, rounding the keeper before tapping into an empty net.

Sampdoria's best chance of goal came deep into stoppage time when Stefano Okaka tried to fire in a late consolation, but De Vrij was on hand to make the block.

The result keeps Lazio ahead of their opponents in the table, leaving the home side third, while Sampdoria sit fifth.
