Nelson Oliveira's sixth goal in Nottingham Forest colours has given the Tricky Trees a 1-0 lead over Leeds United after 45 minutes at the City Ground this evening.
In an otherwise unremarkable first half in the East Midlands, the Portuguese striker borrowed from Benfica for the season capitalised on two defensive errors to break the deadlock in the 17th minute.
A long ball from Forest centre-back Matt Mills caused problems for his opposite number Giuseppe Bellusci, who stretched but was unable to intervene.
That sent Oliveira scampering away and when advancing Leeds goalkeeper Marco Silvestri failed to make a connection with the ball outside of his area, the Forest frontman was left with the task of rolling his shot into an unguarded net.
Oliveira shot wide seven minutes later after he had been picked out by Ryan Mendes, while the only opening of note that Leeds could create in response saw Chris Wood head Charlie Taylor's cross from the left wing over the crossbar.
If Forest are able to hold out during the second period, the three points will lift them above their visitors from Yorkshire and into 11th position.
