Patrick Bamford: 'Leeds United cannot afford to get carried away'

Forward Patrick Bamford acknowledges that Leeds United 'cannot afford to get carried away', despite building an advantage in the race for Premier League promotion.

Patrick Bamford has acknowledged that it is 'still early days' for Leeds United in the race for Premier League promotion.

Leeds have recorded five wins in a row in the Championship, and the Yorkshire giants now sit six points clear of third-placed West Bromwich Albion.

However, Bamford has admitted that he and his teammates cannot afford to look too far ahead as the club bids to earn a long-awaited return to the top flight.

The 25-year-old is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I think this shows we mean business. We're here to try and participate in the league and do well, but it's one of those where it's early days.

"It's halfway through. We're only six points clear and you know that in the Championship if you win a few games everything turns around. It's the same if you lose a few games. It can turn around quickly and that's why we've got to keep our minds on it.

"We can't get carried away and I think the coaching staff will make sure that our minds stay on the task."

Bamford made his return from injury on Saturday to score the decisive goal in the game at Bolton Wanderers.
