Trevor Cherry demands Leeds United sackings

Trevor Cherry says that the six Leeds United players who withdrew from the team to face Charlton Athletic should be sacked.

Former Leeds United captain Trevor Cherry has called on the club to sack the six players who withdrew from the squad to face Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Whites boss Neil Redfearn said that a "freakish" set of events led to the withdrawals of Mirco Antenucci, Giuseppe Bellusci, Dario del Fabro, Marco Silvestri, Edgar Cani, and Souleymane Doukara prior to the 2-1 defeat at The Valley.

However, Cherry believes that Leeds should dismiss the absentees.

He told BBC Sport: "I would sack them and take the PFA on. I don't think players can do that, it's scandalous and it's just another story for Leeds United that is disgraceful.

"I don't know exactly the players and it might be one or two of them have got a good excuse, but it sounds too stupid to be true."

Leeds are currently 16th in the Championship table.
