Leeds United reportedly draw up a three-man managerial shortlist in case Marcelo Bielsa decide to leave the club in the summer.

Leeds United have reportedly drawn up a three-man managerial shortlist should Marcelo Bielsa decide to leave the club in the summer.

The 66-year-old, who moved to Elland Road in 2018, has just five months remaining on his contract, and his long-term future at the club remains uncertain.

While Leeds' hierarchy are keen for Bielsa to stay, the Daily Telegraph reports that they have identified three managerial candidates should they seek a replacement in the summer.

Jesse Marsch, Ernesto Valverde and Carlos Corberan are the three names in contention, as they all share similar football philosophies to Bielsa, though sporting director Victor Orta is yet to approach the trio.

American coach Marsch, 48, is currently unemployed after spending the last six years with three clubs from the Red Bull franchise – beginning with New York Red Bulls before winning two Austrian Bundesliga titles with Red Bull Salzburg and then moving to Germany with RB Leipzig last summer.

As for Valverde, who has previously been linked with Manchester United, the 57-year-old was the man who succeeded Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao in 2013, before winning two La Liga titles with Barcelona between 2017 and 2020.

Meanwhile, Corberan worked as a first-team coach under Bielsa at Leeds, but in July 2020 he was appointed head coach at Huddersfield Town, where the 38-year-old is currently enjoying a promotion push in the Championship.
