Team News: Patrick Bamford drops to Middlesbrough bench

Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford drops to the bench for his side's match with Leeds United despite netting his team's equaliser against Birmingham City in midweek.

Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka has dropped striker Patrick Bamford for his team's clash with Leeds United.

Bamford netted Middlesbrough's equaliser against Birmingham City in midweek to help the North-East club move top of the table, but the Chelsea loanee only features as a substitute for the game at the Riverside Stadium.

Karanka has made a number of other alterations, with goalkeeper Tomas Mejias being drafted into the side as a replacement for Dimi Konstantopoulos, who is suspended after being sent off on Wednesday night.

Tomas Kalas comes into the side in place of Kenneth Omeruo, while Albert Adomah, Adam Forshaw, Adam Reach and Kike also start the fixture.

Leeds boss Neil Redfearn has opted to retain the same team that started their 1-0 victory over Millwall in midweek.

The Yorkshire outfit are currently one of the form sides in the Championship with four victories from their last five matches.

Middlesbrough XI: Mejias; Nsue, Kalas, Gibson, Friend; Leadbitter, Clayton, Adomah, Reach; Vossen, Kike

Leeds United XI: Silvestri, Wootton, Bamba, Bellusci, C.Taylor, Byram, Austin, Murphy, Cook, Mowatt, Morison
