Sir Alex Ferguson: 'Leicester City can win the Premier League'

Sir Alex Ferguson says that Leicester City can win the Premier League this season, but they need to sign more players in order to do so.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Leicester City are capable of winning the Premier League title as long as they bring in new recruits in January.

Claudio Ranieri's side have stunned the top flight by moving to the summit of the table following nine wins from 15 games.

With just one defeat on their Premier League record so far this season, Leicester have impressed as Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have scored 14 and 10 goals respectively.

"What is the manager Claudio Ranieri saying to the owners? Because if I were him, I'd want an investment in January, because this is a big opportunity," Sky Sports News quotes Ferguson as saying.

"They could win the league with the way they are playing at the moment, and they have goals in their team. That is not the owners' problem. The problem for the owners is have they got the money? I think they have.

"At the moment, [Ranieri] can pick the same team because he has a limited squad and is doing very well, but if he wants to win the league, I think he should add to it, and I think there may be a great chance."

Leicester are two points ahead of second-placed Arsenal.
