Leicester City and Crystal Palace are both reportedly unwilling to include Odsonne Edouard in their first-team plans for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.

Leicester City and Crystal Palace are reportedly prepared to cut ties with striker Odsonne Edouard in the near future.

The 26-year-old, who was set for a campaign on the fringes of Oliver Glasner's team in London, secured a loan switch to the newly-promoted Foxes over the summer window.

Since then, Edouard has struggled to make a significant impact in the East Midlands, featuring in just six Premier League matches for Leicester, starting once.

Yet to find the net for his temporary club, the Frenchman is playing a reserve role for the Foxes behind club legend Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka.

Since making the permanent move from Celtic to Crystal Palace during the summer of 2021, Edouard has made 103 competitive appearances for the Eagles, scoring 21 goals.

Leicester, Crystal Palace want to cut ties with Edouard?

According to reports via Celtic Quick News, both Leicester and parent club Crystal Palace have no interest in involving Edouard in their squads for the remainder of the campaign.

The report claims that the 26-year-old has been frozen out of the Foxes fold by new head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, who replaced Steve Cooper last month.

It is understood that the Dutchman is willing to terminate the loan of Edouard early, meaning that he would move back to Selhurst Park in January.

The former France Under-21 international is set to endure a difficult spell in the capital should he return to the Eagles for the second part of the term.

Palace manager Glasner has publicly dismissed Edouard, rubbishing the idea of the attacker being part of the first-team fold at Selhurst Park during 2024-25.

Fall from grace and FIFA rules

A product of the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy, Edouard has suffered a serious fall from grace as he approaches the prime years of his career.

The striker left Les Parisiens with high hopes of becoming a top-flight star, with Celtic breaking their transfer record to sign him for £9m in July 2018.

Amid reports of a Leicester fallout and Glasner's snub, Edouard is at risk of twiddling his thumbs for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.

Featuring briefly for Palace at the beginning of the campaign, the 26-year-old has played for two different clubs this term, the maximum number permitted by FIFA rules.
