Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare on England radar?

A report claims that Sam Allardyce will further bolster his England backroom staff this week with the appointment of Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare.

The Football Association is reportedly hopeful of naming Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare as part of England's backroom staff this week.

The 52-year-old is thought to have agreed terms to join the Three Lions on a part-time basis and will link up with the squad for the first time early next month.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is happy for Shakespeare to combine both jobs, despite already losing fellow chief Steve Walsh to Everton this summer - a key part of the Foxes' talent-spotting committee behind the signings of N'Golo Kante, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.

Speaking to reporters recently, Ranieri said: "I watch Craig in training and he is very focused on the job. I would be very happy [if he joined up with England]."

According to The Telegraph, a deal will be finalised in the coming days as new manager Sam Allardyce continues to shape his backroom team at Wembley.

Sammy Lee was recruited to the England staff in July, but a move to bring Paul Clement on board failed due to his commitments with Bayern Munich.
