Nigel Pearson: 'Leicester City displayed battling qualities'

Nigel Pearson praises his Leicester City side for beating Sheffield Wednesday, despite not being at their best.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has revealed his happiness after their win over Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night, despite admitting that they were short of their best form.

The Foxes edged another step closer to promotion from the Championship by earning a 2-1 victory, and Pearson was quick to praise his players for securing all three points.

"The result's great," Pearson told Sky Sports News. "At this stage of the season and at any stage the result is the most important thing.

"We probably showed that we are human tonight. We didn't quite sparkle the way that we have done in games, but we showed other qualities.

"Towards the end the number of blocks and challenges we put in to keep the ball out of the net is testament to the fact that we're capable of doing what we need to do to win games."

If Queens Park Rangers lose to Bournemouth on Saturday and Derby fail to beat Middlesbrough, Leicester's promotion will be secured.
