Nigel Pearson says that Leicester City will need to be lucky to reach the playoffs on Saturday.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has said that his team will need luck if they are to reach the Championship playoffs.

The Foxes are one of four teams in with a shout of reaching the playoffs, along with Crystal Palace, Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest.

Pearson takes his team to the City Ground on Saturday and he expects a red-hot atmosphere in the local derby.

"It will be very much like a cup tie I would imagine," Sky Sports News quotes Pearson as saying. "We will be taking a lot of fans there so I think we can expect a terrific atmosphere as well, but as with all local derbies it is about getting the performance right and doing all we can to win it.

"It has all come down to the last game of the season and unfortunately for us it is not in our own hands in that even if we win we are not guaranteed to get into the playoffs.

"So we are going to need a bit of fortune but, as I said, first and foremost we have got to get our own game right and we will all be raring to go and get the win."

Leicester have won just one of their last 12 fixtures.
