Claudio Ranieri urges in-form Jamie Vardy for Leicester City stay

Claudio Ranieri advises Jamie Vardy to stay with Leicester City as speculation links him with a January move away.

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has warned in-form striker Jamie Vardy that he would be wise to stay at the King Power Stadium beyond January.

The 28-year-old has been one of the success stories in a season which has seen him score 12 goals to lead the race for the Premier League's golden boot - scoring in nine straight games.

Consequently, the England international's form is said to have alerted England's elite as Manchester United reportedly weigh up a £15m bid this winter.

Asked by Sky Sports News if Leicester is the best place for Vardy, the Italian said: "Of course, he's intelligent, he knows very well that now, at Leicester, there's a very good group, a positive group who play together.

"That's good for him and the other players to show they have quality in this team. Maybe next season they could choose the best solution - but then you have to see also where Leicester is at the end of the season."

The Foxes, who sit third in the table, one point behind co-leaders Manchester City and Arsenal, face Newcastle United away on Saturday.
