Claudio Ranieri: "We showed fantastic spirit"

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri praises the spirit that his players showed during their 1-0 victory over Newcastle United.

Claudio Ranieri has claimed that a "fantastic spirit" got his Leicester City side through their home clash with Newcastle United tonight.

The table-topping Foxes had just one shot on target at the King Power Stadium, but it proved to be a crucial effort from Shinji Okazaki as it secured a 1-0 win to open up a five-point lead.

"It wasn't the best performance from us but we showed fantastic spirit," Ranieri told Sky Sports News.

"We defended very well. We played and we fight. It wasn't nervy in the second half, the team was so close and compact."

Next up for the Foxes is a trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
