Riyad Mahrez eyes up Liverpool scalp

Riyad Mahrez hopes that Leicester City can kick on from beating Hull City by upsetting Liverpool at Anfield.

Riyad Mahrez has urged his Leicester City teammates to build on Sunday's 1-0 win at Hull City en route to securing Premier League survival.

The 23-year-old proved the match-winner as the bottom-of-the-table Foxes registered their first league win since beating Manchester United way back in September.

Nigel Pearson's side remain rooted to the foot of the standings, but Mahrez hopes that victory over Hull proves the start of a winning streak - with a visit to Liverpool up next on Thursday.

"We knew the Premier League would be difficult," he told the club's official website. "We knew we'd lose some games, but we have to stay focused for the team and the fans.

"We have lost too many points this season, so it's a very good win [over Hull]. We have to keep going in this way and the next game – Liverpool away – it's a difficult game."

City are three points adrift of safety as it stands.
