Andy King earns victory for Leicester City

An early goal from Andy King is enough to give Leicester City the three points against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Championship.

Andy King's early goal has given Leicester City a narrow victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Championship.

The hosts were the better side in the opening stages and managed to make the breakthrough in the 10th minute thanks to a powerful finish from Andy King following some good work from striker David Nugent.

Brighton found it difficult to cope with Leicester's pressing tactics and the home side were able to enjoy long spells of domination.

Despite controlling the game, Leicester didn't create many chances in the first period and a simple save for Tomasz Kuszczak from a long-range Anthony Knockaert strike was the closest the hosts came to a second goal before the break.

It was the away side who had the opportunity to score early in the second half when Will Buckley was awarded a penalty following a challenge from Zak Whitbread.

However, Ashley Barnes saw his effort easily saved by Kasper Schmeichel and he failed to hit the target with his rebound from close range.

Following Brighton's disappointment from the penalty spot, their bid for a point quickly faded and King went close to doubling his tally in the closing stages as Leicester eased to victory.
