Claude Puel tells supporters that Leicester City must endure "short-term pain" if they are to enjoy "long-term gain" under his guidance.

Claude Puel has stressed that he is not feeling the heat at Leicester City after being given a vote of confidence by the club's owners.

The 56-year-old's future at the King Power Stadium beyond the end of this season has been called into question following a poor run of form.

Leicester have taken one point from their last four matches and were thrashed 5-0 by Crystal Palace in their most recent outing.

Amid suggestions that Puel was on the brink of being sacked, however, City's owners flew to the club's training base on Friday morning to offer the Frenchman their full backing.

Asked about the conversation with chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Puel told reporters at his weekly presser: "The message from the owner is clear for all. It is important to finish strongly and to respect the club, the owners and the fans.

"I'm not under pressure. I'm pragmatic, just this. I know my work, I know what we need to do, what we want for the end of the season, for next season, but of course it's important to try and bring together this energy. We have to endure this short-term pain for long-term gain."

Puel was appointed as Craig Shakespeare's successor in October and has taken the Foxes from 14th to ninth.
