Leicester City have reportedly started talks to sign Clement Chantome on a free transfer in the summer.
It is believed that the Foxes made a bid to sign the midfielder towards the end of the transfer window, but Bordeaux refused to sell.
However, with his deal at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux due to expire at the end of the season, the 28-year-old is now permitted to sign a pre-contract with another club.
According to L'Equipe, one of the teams that are keen to take advantage of that fact are the Premier League leaders.
Chantome joined his current employers from Paris Saint-Germain 12 months ago.
