Sporting Lisbon are reportedly interested in re-signing Islam Slimani from Leicester, who made the Algerian their record purchase when he joined from the Portuguese side.

Sporting Lisbon are reportedly interested in re-signing Leicester City forward Islam Slimani when the transfer window reopens.

The Foxes made Slimani their all-time record signing when he joined the then-Premier League champions from Sporting in 2016, but he struggled to live up to his price tag at the King Power Stadium.

The 31-year-old has been shipped out on loan to Newcastle United, Fenerbahce and Monaco, the latter of whom he has spent the 2019-20 campaign with.

Slimani has scored nine goals and registered seven assists in 18 Ligue 1 outings for Monaco this season, but the French outfit will reportedly turn down the chance to make the move permanent this summer.

Portuguese outlet O Jogo reports that Sporting are considering the possibility of bringing the Algeria international back to Lisbon, where he scored 57 goals in 111 appearances between 2013 and 2016.

Slimani, who was linked with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window, has made 46 appearances for Leicester in total, scoring 13 goals and assisting seven.
