Real Sociedad 1-3 Levante

Levante tighten their grip on the final Champions League qualifying spot in La Liga with a 3-1 victory away at 10-man Real Sociedad.

Levante have tightened their grip on the final Champions League qualifying spot in La Liga with a 3-1 victory away at 10-man Real Sociedad.

The hosts took the lead after six minutes, as Carlos Vela finished off a rapid counter-attack following a smart through ball from Xabi Prieto.

Jose Barkero converted a penalty to bring the Valencia-based high-flyers level six minutes later, after Nabil El Zhar had been fouled.

Phillipe Montanier's team dominated possession while Levante created the majority of the chances.

In first-half stoppage time, Juan Ignacio Martinez's men deservedly went ahead as Arouno Kone collected the ball from Javier Farinos and calmly slotted past Claudio Bravo.

Sociedad were reduced to 10 men just before the hour as Gorka Elustondo was shown a second yellow card for a mistimed challenge on El Zhar.

Substitute Xavi Torres wrapped up the win in stoppage time by calmly placing past Bravo following Abdelkader Ghezzal's pass.
