Lille secured a win at home against Toulouse in Ligue 1 this evening to move into the top half of the table.
The hosts looked strong from the start, Nolan Roux and Aurelien Chedjou forcing saves in the opening 15 minutes.
Lille continued to have the majority of the possession in the opening half, but an aggressive defending style from Toulouse, resulting in the visitors conceding a high number of free kicks, prevented the home side from creating many genuine chances.
Marko Basa broke the deadlock for Lille in the 55th minute, heading in from a Dimitri Payet free kick.
The visitors had few chances to equalise, having just two shots on goal throughout the match.
Payet doubled the home side's advantage in the 83rd minute to seal the victory for Lille.
The win moves Lille up to ninth above Toulouse in the table.
