The game's first real opportunity fell to Lorient as Bryan Pele provided a cross for Lamine Kone, but the best he could muster was a wild header that flew over the crossbar.
Marcos Lopes looked creative for Lille and he picked out Delaplace, who fired straight at Lorient keeper Benjamin Lecomte.
Lorient perhaps had their best chance after the break as Pele brought Jordan Ayew's cross under control, but he could only guide his shot into the palms of a thankful Vincent Enyeama.
Lille made use of this miss to take the lead in the 58th minute when Ryan Mendes fed Delaplace outside of the box, leaving him to thrash powerfully into the bottom corner.
The hosts sealed their victory after the break when Kjaer converted from a 74th-minute free kick.
