Adama Traore fires Lille past Evian TG

Adama Traore scores the only goal of the game as Lille secure a 1-0 win over Evian TG.

Evian TG missed the chance to climb out of the bottom three as Adama Traore scored his first senior goal to hand Lille a 1-0 victory this evening.

Both sides observed a minute of silence shortly before the game as French football took the time to remember the victims of Wednesday's attack at the Paris headquarters of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

A bright start from Evian should have been rewarded with an early goal, but Cedric Barbosa could only fire his shot over the crossbar after beating the offside trap.

Lille then took control of the game and started to dominate possession, and they came close to breaking the deadlock when Simon Kjaer headed just wide from a corner.

Despite spending long spells on the back foot, Evian continued to look threatening going forward, and Daniel Wass forced Vincent Enyeama into two fine saves before the break.

An extended spell of pressure in the second half earned Lille the opening goal on the hour mark when Traore created space for himself on the edge of the box before curling home.

Nolan Roux missed the chance to double Lille's advantage when he directed a header just wide from Florent Balmont's inviting delivery.

The hosts finished the game strongly to comfortably collect the three points which take them up to 11th.
