Team News: Daniel Sturridge starts for Liverpool

Daniel Sturridge will spearhead the Liverpool attack during tonight's Europa League semi-final against Villarreal, while Emre Can returns from injury.

Daniel Sturridge has been selected to play as Liverpool's lone centre-forward during tonight's Europa League semi-final second leg against Villarreal.

A large number of eyebrows were raised when the England international remained on the bench throughout last week's first leg, which ended in a 1-0 victory to the Spanish hosts.

However, manager Jurgen Klopp has opted to recall Sturridge for this must-win game at Anfield.

Another positive for the hosts is that Emre Can, who was expected to miss the remainder of the season through injury, has been passed fit to start in midfield.

As for the visitors, despite the fact that he scored the winning goal seven days ago, striker Adrian once again finds himself named among the substitutes.

Liverpool: Mignolet; Clyne, Toure, Lovren, Moreno; Can, Milner; Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho; Sturridge
Subs: Ward, Benteke, Lucas, Allen, Skrtel, Ibe, Smith

Villarreal: Areola; Mario, Musacchio, Victor, Costa; Dos Santos, Pina, Bruno, Denis; Soldado, Bakambu
Subs: Asenjo, Bonera, Castillejo, Adrian, Samuel, Rukavina, Trigueros
